Tenerife – Tenerife is one of the Canary Islands situated some 60 miles (95 km off the coast of Morocco and the Western Sahara in Africa.) It has good weather all the year round. The south of the island is definitely warmer and sunnier than the north. Tenerife is said to have the lowest temperature ‘contrast’ between summer and winter of anywhere in the world – the lowest annual average air temperatures are in the region of 15C in winter (night time) and 24C in summer with the highest temperatures in July and August where they can rise to around 29 degrees. The average daytime temperatures during January and February are a comfortable 21 degrees falling to around 15 degrees at night with an average of 6 hours sunshine per day rising to an incredible 11 hours average sunshine per day in June, July and August.

Throw this into the mix – of verdant forests in the northern part of the island as well as mountains, deserts, volcanoes, exotic plant and animal life and spectacular beaches and you have a holiday paradise. Tenerife offers the unique experience of swimming and sunbathing on a beautiful beach while just a few miles away snow sparkles on the crest of Mount Teide. The islands central mountain stands at 12,000 feet, the highest in Spain. A cable car ride to the summit offers unrivalled views of the lunar-like landscape of the volcanic slopes.
